Early October Kirton Kids

My babies are amazing. When other moms say things like this, I roll my eyes so far back I may accidentally end up falling backward one day.  Its nauseating for people to brag about their kids.  "Yeah, we get it.  Your kids are gorgeous and smart and talented."  But I really need to get over myself, because when I say my kids are amazing, its a statement made 100% of love and pure awe at what is possible despite my innumerable failings, and I might at well just decide that that's how everybody else says it (why bother thinking the other thing?) Georgia likes to name things and pretend to read lately.  I wish we had a new pet to name because we'd get something stupendous, I assure you.  For a little while she was naming everything Binky.  Now she names everything Bikshaw (BEEK-shaw) or Buk-shaw-shaw Wah-wah, and such-like things.  Its cool.  I think Bikshaw is pretty gangsta.  And clearly, I am quite a thug. We are a 3 kid family. The transition hasn't been any harder than the others, but I measure the added workload in things I'm able to do for myself without being forced to openly neglect the needs of a child in my care.  There is now nothing on that list.  It is no longer a list.  It is a long missed and sweetly remembered faris wheel of old timey silent movie reels where-in I artfully smooth on mascara and braid my long hair.  [My hair didn't fall off because I had another kid- I paid a friend to cut it off because pregnant women always think that a haircut will make them feel hot again.  I know this.  People pay me to do this to them, yet... Well anyway.]  I don't have as much time to do things like put on makeup, write a whole bog post in less than 3 sittings, or like- shower and shave my legs without paying for it.  My kids are climbers, and flingers.  Sheeya. Gemma.  Oh... my Gemma.  She is the perfect baby. I h...

Dear Gemma

Dear Gemma, Sigh  :) I am so looking forward to seeing your face.  I am so excited to play with your fingers and toes, and kiss your tiny head and little face one hundred times a day.  Will you be skinny?  Will you be tall?  Do you have hair?  I want to pinch your thin little newborn skin and roll you up in a soft little scarf-thing and take pictures of your preciousness so I can never forget your tiny perfect little details.  I hope you have that little ball in the middle of your top lip that most newborns have.  I'm a sucker for the newborn-upper-lip-ball.  I have your blanket set aside, and I got your swimsuit all ready... I have a lot of fun and exciting things going on right now, but Baby Gem, I am more excited about you than all of the other things in the world that without you and your daddy and siblings, would have the job of filling my soul.  Those other things are nothing compared to you. I'm excited to see the looks on ...
